Starting April 1st of this year, a new tariff system for the electric bill will be implemented.
It is already creating a lot of confusion when in fact, by simplifying the tariff system into 3 instead of 7 tariff sections, calculating your new tariff should be easier.
To make things easier, you can calculate on the blog site your new tariff (bear in mind that the TV license, Rural subsidy and Waste collection fee are not included. N.B that if you consume between 200-300, you will need to subtract 0.5 JODs. There is a small glitch when going from 1000-1001 when meter is not subsidised and I am working on fixing it. If you do find any other errors, please comment below or send me an email):

What next?
Register for the subsidy (valid only per household) using this link: kahraba.gov.jo
Change your old appliances: if you have a very old refrigerator unit, you might want to think of changing it (since it is on 24/7). You can read the Energy Efficiency label on each appliance you purchase. Also, all your lightbulbs should be LED by now. Also check for faulty wiring.
DO NOT donate your old appliances, recycle them instead: there was a famous story a few years back of a Syrian family that received an old electric heater as a donation. After only 1 month of use, their electric bill went up from 6 JODs per month to 60. They got into financial and legal trouble with the Electric company.
I have only created a calculator widget for households. Maybe if I get the time, I will do a static/dynamic analysis for the commercial/industrial sector.
