Transitions are always awkward: be it from childhood to adulthood, or from an analog to a digital government. There is however a delicate way to make this transition go as smooth as possible: communication.
The lack of proper communication led to a disastrous implementation of the ‘beneficial ownership’ law (with over 80,000 companies being suspended in Jordan):
Every company has to (it is imperative to all except the small dukane in the street corner) register with the Invoicing system. If you fail to do so, you will face fines … or worse.
Again, this system is a great idea with the best of intentions of simplifying bureaucratic procedures and tax audits/sales tax returns. The implementation however: messy and awkward (and I also feel bad for the overwhelmed tax clerks)
Maybe the government needs a lesson in communication (public service announcement) and time management.
Or maybe they should first listen to the story of the Avocado farmer by Alan Watts:

Collapsed Companies Department
If there was a show that would best describe the attitude of our government it would be the British sitcom from the 90s “Keeping Up Appearances”. The Companies Control Department (CCD) recently boasted about the economic recovery and the successful policies it has implemented by stating that more companies have registered in Jordan compared to pre-COVID …
Now companies in Jordan are facing a new digital “challenge”: the new Invoicing system. (More info here: https://portal.jofotara.gov.jo/ar/login)
